Contemporary Home in Boonsboro

Nestled on the eastern shore of Evergreen Lake in Boonsboro, VA sits this intriguing contemporary home.  The detailing and curved massing of this design pushed the envelope of the materials used.  Exposed steel trusses, rafter tails along with bell curved roof lines and massive expanses of glazing marry traditional and modern ideas.  The design takes full advantage of the wooded site and selected materials create a one of a kind energy efficient lake house.

"I can state with complete confidence that this house could not have been built without a design and build firm like Custom Structures.  Everything about this house is custom.  Without an architect that respects the builder and a builder that respects the architect, this house could never have been realized.  Everyone who has ever built a home, warned us not to put this kind of stress on our marriage!  And although there were difficult times, I always trusted Custom Structures and its outstanding people to do what was best and what was right.  I never once felt like they took a short cut or an easy route.
Artists and visionaries built this house.  It was an amazing experience to work with architects that were willing to listen to our desires and then go above and beyond.  The house truly is a work of art and everyone that was involved, from the people who installed the tile to the stonemasons to the gentlemen who worked on the landscape in the full heat of summer, added their own artistry, creativity, blood, sweat, and tears.  Everyone rose to the challenge, tried something new, expressed themselves, and were proud to say they were a part of this beautiful, lasting piece of architecture.
Living in this house has been like a fairy tale.  The house that runs as smoothly as our family.  Everything and everyone has its place.  This home makes us feel protected.  The energy efficiencies built into it and the undisturbed environment make us feel like we protected our world.  One rainy Sunday morning this summer, as we were laying in bed listening to the kids playing to the beat of the raindrops on the roof and watching the trees sway over the lake, my husband asked if I would have done anything different."  “No, its absolutely perfect.”
