Custom Structures recently completed the design and construction of 9,600 square feet of renovated space to the educational wing of Timberlake United Methodist Church.

The renovation encompassed many advantages that the school had been planning for years. 9,600 square feet of new finishes may be the most obvious renovation, but the project also involved enlarging classrooms, adding nursery space, improving security, improving fire protection and improving circulation.

It was also important to establish a visual entry into the educational wing from the exterior. A porte-cache was added as a drop-off zone. Oversize letter and number blocks set the tone for educating children. Directly inside the entry is a foyer with access to office personnel and seating areas. In addition to children’s artwork the foyer also houses an aquarium, which is the focal point of the entry.

Church and school personnel were wonderful to work with. Meetings were productive and decisions were made rapidly. It was a successful project for all involved.
